Support >> Travel Consumer Alert
In response to past mishaps, California enacted the California Seller of Travel Law, which became effective January 1, 1996. This law was intended to protect you, the consumer, from fraud and undesirable "hide and seek" travel companies, and enforce truth in advertising.
Under this law, all travel agencies in California must pass the Attorney General inspection, register with the State and are assigned a registration ID number. All tour brochures and advertisements must show the ID number. Approved agencies participate in a $1.6 million consumer protection plan.
To fully benefit from the law, verify that the agency you are dealing with is properly registered and that its ID number is shown on its tour brochure. Demanding to see the agency's ID number will go a long way to provide you with the assurances you need.
When you consider a tour proposal from any travel agency, make sure it is a reputable one, with a good history of performance, and its own resources, such as airline ticketing appointments and volume purchasing power. Travel International Sports ("TIS") is a registered California travel company and directly licensed by all major airlines to issue their tickets, TIS adheres to all federal, state and travel industry regulations, as well as the highest standards of ethics, even if they are unwritten
